Ex-Change Parts announces global helicopter acquisition and disassembly projects

Ex-Change Parts today announced the acquisition and commencement of three worldwide parallel helicopter disassembly projects. “This strategic move marks a significant expansion of our capabilities when it comes to certified used parts and components in the helicopter market, particularly in the light twin-engine sector”, says Göran Enström, Head of Business Development at Ex-Change Parts.

The acquired helicopters:
o   BK117B1: Previously operated by Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) – with an average of 58% remaining potential on the major dynamic components.
o   EC135P2: Previously used for broadcasting services and VIP transportation – with an average of 53% remaining potential on the major dynamic components and engines.
o   A109A Mk.II: Formerly utilized for VIP transportation – with an average of 30% remaining potential on the major dynamic components and engines.

Component Certification and Stock Management
“Ex-Change Parts’ Stock Management Team meticulously processes our high-value components to ensure that modification status, documentation, preservation, crating, and sales pricing are competitive and aligned with airworthiness and customer requirements,” says Stefan Widén, Head of Stock Management at Ex-Change Parts. He continues, “This important work sets us apart from the competition and is performed using relevant technical documentation and in close cooperation with our extensive network of component shops, OEMs, and product experts”

The certification of these helicopter parts will be carried out by our Part-145 approved maintenance partners. Each component will be dismantled, inspected, and certified with dual EASA and FAA, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability”.

Light, medium and heavy twin-engine helicopters
Historically, Ex-Change Parts has focused on the heavy and medium twin-engine segment, including models such as the Super Puma, Dauphin, and AW139. This new initiative broadens the portfolio to include a variety of light twin-engine helicopters, reflecting the company’s evolving strategy and commitment to meet diverse market demands. These three projects follow the recent disassemblies of a BK117C1 and an EC135T1.

Available in the fall  
Certified parts and components from the newly acquired helicopters will be available for delivery in the early fall of 2024 and visible in the company’s new web database of +70,000 items; search at https://www.ex-changeparts.com/spare-parts-search/. New parts, not yet listed in the database, are now available for pre-reservation, for both outright sales and exchange.
